New 38 amendments of Saudi Arabia labor law

On March 2015, council of ministers and labor ministry has approved 38 new amendments in Saudi Arabia labor law. These are effective from October 2015. Most important updates of 38 new amendments of Saudi Arabia labor law are:

Training for Saudi’s: a company having 50 or more employees must train 12% Saudis and consider them as original employees.

Probation period: basically, probation period is 90 days but now it can be extended for additional 90 days on the agreement of both parties. It should not be more than 180 days. A worker can go on probation period only once in a company. But if worker left the company and return back or the work is different from previous work, then worker can go on probation period again.

Absent from work: if an employee is absent from work for 30 days or 15 consecutive days, without a valid reason, company can terminate him without any salary.

Fixed contracts: for Saudis, if the fixed contract of employment is extended for 4 years or renewed thrice successfully then the contract is considered as unlimited contract.

Termination notice: for unlimited contracts, termination notice period for monthly payable employees is extended from 30 days to 60 days and for hourly payable employees extended from 15 days to 30 days.

Holidays: In case of divorce or death of husband Muslim women can get 4 months 10 days leave and non Muslim women can take 15 days leave with full salary.

Marriages leave - 5 days
Paternity leave - 3 days
Bereavement leave -5 days

Maternity leave: 10 week maternity leave for women with full salary and maternity leave starts 4 weeks before the delivery. Maternity leave can be extended for additional one month without salary.
Employment certificate: at the end of employment contract, a certificate of employment must be provided by employer and certificate should not contain anything against the reputation of employee.
Employee transfer: if employer wants to transfer his employee from one place to another, he must have the permission of employee in written format. In emergency situation, employer cannot transfer the employee to other place for more than 30 days in a year.

Working hours: working hours for an employee should not be more than 12 hours per day and employee should not work for more than 5 consecutive hours. At least half hour break is mandatory in a day.

Wage protection system: as per the wage protection system, employee salary should be deposited through bank account. Wage protection system is now at its eighth stage and applicable to all companies with 130 or more employees.

Work injuries: in case of workplace injury the employee will get full salary for 2 months and 75% of salary till the treatment which can be up to one year and if classified as disables will be provided compensation.









How to check sponsor name transfer status in MOL

Ministry of labor website is updated now. In previous version of website, it was easy to find sponsor name and ID by accessing personal MOL Absher account. In updated version of MOL website, there is no feature of checking sponsor name and ID. The method of checking your current Iqama sponsor name and ID has changed now. I am going to tell you the new method in this article.
Through MOL website you can check your Iqama sponsor name and sponsorship transfer status as mentioned below:
#1     Go to the MOL website to know your current sponsor name according to labor ministry’s records. If you have transferred from previous sponsor to new sponsor recently, then in MOL website you can see the details of your new sponsor including new sponsor name, application number and date of transfer. The problem for non Saudis is that, the MOL website is in Arabic language only. Here are some screenshots that help you to understand the entire process to access MOL website.
#2     Go to the official website of ministry of labor www.mol.gov.sa.

#3     Click the drop down menu, now in drop down menu select the 4th option. Refer the image below.

#4 After that, change the radio button selection from first line to second line. In second line text box enter your Iqama number and fill the image code and click the right button. See the image below for clarity.


#5 After submitting these details, just below that form you will receive a one line massage. In this massage you can see the name of your current sponsor written between brackets as shown in the image.


#6   If you have transferred the sponsorship recently, you may see different image. Here you can see the name of your new sponsor, sponsorship transfer date and application number. Transfer date is shown as a Hijri date. Refer the image below.

From Zain to Pakistani mobile number:  dial *111*Pakistani Number*amount#'

you should type 0092 before any pakistani mobile number


For Example: if you want to send 20 riyals to pakistani number.

dial  *111*0092xxxx*20#



From STC Sawa to Pakistani mobile number:  write 133*pakistani number*1 and send 801500

you will get a confirmation message. reply with Y and the balance will be transfered.


More details:

 - always put 0092 before any pakistani number.

For STC Sawa things are different.

   for amount you choose 1 for 100PKR, 2 for 250 and 3 for 500PKR.
and the prices are as follows.

100 PKR : 5 SAR
250 PKR : 12 SAR
500 PKR : 23 SAR

If you want to transfer an amount of 25 Riyals to the number 05XXXXXXXX then you should send the below to 702702.

Example: bt 05xxxxxxxx 25

Balance reciever:

When you receive a confirmation message that balance is transferred to you, you should send an SMS to 702702 containing:

id → space → 1234567890 (10 Digits Number) (Saudi id or Iqama Number)

Ban Lifted from Whatsapp Video and Voice Calls

Whatsapp Free Voice and Video calls are back in Saudi Arabia


Whatsapp video and voice calls are working now in ksa. did you checked your whatsapp?  if not check it now. its working. Ban is lifted from Voice and video calls in whatsapp. This is a very good news for people living in Saudi Arabia.



Today i got a call on whatsapp i received it without realizing that it is a whatsapp call at the end of the call i notice i am talking on whatsapp it was shocking and i feel like wow. now the ban on whatsapp voice and video calls are finally lifted.


I tried calling my other friends and tested it is working fine. for some users i got comments that our calling features says connecting but it is not working. we don't know exactly what the problem is. for some users it is working great for some still have problems.

Viber and whatsapp calling feature was banned in the kingdom in 2015. IMO and Facebook calls were also banned for short time but later was resumed.

The Saudi Arabian authority didn't banned whatsapp calling feature. it was whatsapp that put a ban on whatsapp calling in KSA because they were complying with rules and regulations of Gulf Countries.

Whatsapp Calling features was not only banned in Saudi Arabia alone, but also in most of the GCC countries.
